Nur mahammad

b. 1983

Delhi based Nur Mahammad completed his BFA and MFA in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, Visva Bharati University respectively in 2009 and 2011.

His works have been exhibited in Future Past Continuous at Travancore Palace, New Delhi (2025), in ‘One Story is not Enough’ at Visual Art Gallery, IHC, New Delhi (2023) and in Techne Disruptors at The Highline Nine Gallery, New York (2022). His works also showcased in ‘Desh: Homeland’ at The Upside Space (2022). Besides, he also participated in exhibitions including Terrain Offline at Bikaner House, New Delhi (2021), Abyakta Kothon (Voice for Voiceless) at Terrain.art (2021), Malhar: A Lyrical Exposition at Anant Art Gallery, New Delhi (2020); Bequeathed Expressions at One New Street Gallery, United Kingdom, The Stainless Gallery, New Delhi and ArtBuzz Studios (2019); Looking Forward Forward Looking, Project Artnexxt at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2012); Rochester Contemporary Art Centre, New York (2012) and Cloth, Paper and Scissor in Icon Art Gallery, Hyderabad (2012). In 2009 he assisted K.G. Subramanyan with his ‘Black and White Mural’ on Kala Bhavan, Shantiniketan campus.

In 2026, Mahammad was selected for AMCA’s Emerging Artist Program™ from a shortlist of a 190 applicants. His debut solo exhibition with open at AMCA Colaba as a part of the Season of Solos programming in June, 2026.
